Isn’t the gift of music amazing? When we hear a beautiful message alongside a glorious tune, one cannot help but be moved. A few years ago, we had the pleasure to take up a rare incident. Many of our members were going to be out of town, COVID was still widely spread in certain regions and our area was calling for weather issues. Overall, a difficult decision was made to only have one service for Christmas. Having a full breakfast early, kids program and play, along with a beautiful service to follow; we found our night open. As many know, it is rare for a pastor’s family to visit other churches. Well, we quickly called a family meeting and it was unanimously voted to hurry to travel several hours away to “catch” a late service program and Christmas Special.

In a mad dash, children in tow and happy spirits, we arrived as the opening songs were being sung. I looked at my husband and said, “This alone was worth the trip.” After all the hustle and bustle of services, a program, and sweet fellowship we set in the vehicle to go home. Exhausted. Taking a “5 minute breather”, I thanked my hubby for making the trip. I knew he was exhausted, we all were and we didn’t have to preach. But, we all agreed how beautiful it was to walk into a church with boisterous singing and the spirit moving in the midst of sweet sounds. Brothers and sisters harmonizing simple songs we hear and sing over and over. Hymns and songs celebrating the birth of Christ! Beautiful is not a strong enough word!

Rejoicing with our brothers and sisters each Sunday, singing heavenly praises to our wonderful Lord and Savior is magnificent. Oh, how sweet it is! Let’s be honest, some individuals are blessed musically more than others, but we can all sing the glorious songs of praise to our Mighty King! So each Sunday I would like to share a beautiful song for your new week! Old or new, I hope it blesses you greatly and rings beautifully in your heart throughout the week.

Jesus Is All the World to Me

By Will Thompson (In Ohio, he starting composing as a teenager. This song, however, was published in 1904 at 46 years of age.)

Piano Hymn~Audio

Along with audio, here is a link for the sheet music, lyrics and music in the hymnary.

Jesus is all the world to me. My life, my joy, my all;

He is my strength from day to day, Without Him I would fall.

When I am sad, to Him I go, No other one can cheer me so;

When I am sad He makes me glad- He’s my friend.

Jesus is all the world to me. My friend in trials sore;

I go to Him for blessings and He gives them o’er and o’er.

He sends the sunshine and the rain, He sends the harvest’s golden grain;

Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain- He’s my friends.

Jesus is all the world to me, And true to Him I’ll be;

Oh, how could I this friend de-ny When He’s so true to me?

Following Him I know I’m right, He watches o’er me day and night;

Following Him by day and night- He’s my friend.

Jesus is all the world to me, I want no better friend;

I trust Him now, I’ll trust Him when Life’s fleeting days shall end.

Beautiful life with such a friend, Beautiful life that has no end;

Eternal life, eternal joy! He’s my friend!

.

Happy Sunday!
