With My Whole Heart

What does that even mean? Have you ever wondered that? If we say we love something with our whole heart and grow in God’s grace we love more, right? So, are we loving with our whole heart still? And if we love with our whole heart how does that love differ than if we kind of love someone?

So many times the word LOVE gets thrown around very easily. Even I have done it before. I LOVE ice cream! I LOVE that song! And while we do enjoy that thing or place, do we with our whole heart? Can you think of a food you used to disliked, but now you eat it. Perhaps you even despised it, but now you enjoy it very much. Anything come to mind? Aren’t we funny? It reminds me of the things of God. So many times, even before ever stepping in ministry rolls, we met individuals that did not enjoy the things of God. Church, fellowship, Christian revivals, camp meetings, and etc. But, after they got saved, they have learned to enjoy those things greatly. Their heart has changed, praise the LORD!

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.” Psalms 119:2

Did you know the word “heart” appears 830 times in the KJV Bible? Other than in Deuteronomy, Psalms 119 is where it appears most often, which is 15 different times. But, throughout Psalms a total of 123 times. The beautiful part is, that God was not speaking about our lovely blood pumping heartbeat. He was referring to our inner being. Our living, breathing, wild, inner deciding heart, man, soul and mind. While we can easily see this, sometimes it is easy to pass over God’s deep desire and expressions over and over, through HIS word. HE desires our whole heart. HE wants to lead us, bless our lives and desires for us to seek HIM with our whole heart.

So how do we do that? Through HIS word! Reading, studying and understanding HIS word. God is not the author of confusion, that is Satan.

“Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.” Psalm 119:38

Throughout God’s word, HE expresses the importance of not just knowing HIS word, seeking His word and hiding HIS word in our hearts. But God expresses the importance of obeying it.

“And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Deuteronomy 6:7

And while there are only (2) actual verses with the words “heart” and “obey” in them, Deu. 30:2 and Col. 3:22. God is very clear that HE desires for us to not only to know HIS word, but to do as HE commands as HE states in James:

“For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:” James 1:23

Now we all know God is not simply a God of rules. Rather, He is a God of love, grace and mercy. His desire is to draw us close to HIM, to know HIM and to worship and honor Him! We do that first by seeking Him with our whole heart, with our true desires and decide that is what we want, to really know HIM! In doing, we will find HIM!

But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.” Deuteronomy 4:29

And blessed we will be!

“Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.” Psalms 119:2

HE really wants to bless our lives! God is so good! And all throughout HIS word does He exemplifies that! Through all the old testament saints, we have so many accounts for obedience and grace. We also have examples of much disobedience, along with its consequences. All things fruit. Obedience fruits blessings!

So, how do we obtain a blessed life? By seeking God. By knowing God. By obeying God. And by serving God. ALL of these things with our whole heart! When we do things with our whole heart, we are not looking for a reward, we are not seeking praise, nor are we quick to quit when God says, what about this? Nobody said cleaning up was easy.

Have you ever thrown a birthday or graduation party? If you have ever hosted any large get together, you know what I am talking about. It can be a mess. Even in a short period of time, you have all those people. Well, life can be messy too. It does not take long to get into a heap of trouble in today’s world. In fact, it is getting harder and harder to guard your family from it. Let alone, all that someone will encounter while out wandering around in the things of this world looking for satisfaction. It could be the simplest things to what you might call very sinful things. Whatever it is, if it is between you and God, it’s an idol. Would you give them up for God? Depending on when you got saved, or how much Bible background you have, there might be a lot of mess. It is OKAY! Come just as you are. Or you may look very clean on the outside, but inside you have bitterness and anger. Just come as you are and give it to God! Let God do the cleaning, because HE will if you let Him! But it is going to take some work.

Have a beautiful Mother’s Day weekend!
