Overnight Apple Pie French Toast Recipe

THE NIGHT BEFORE

Plop ingredients in. Mix. Bake. Eat! A great recipe that kids love, no fuss kitchen mess, from fridge to oven early in the morning, ready and delicious in minutes.

~Start with 1 loaf of bread. (I use a dry sourdough usually on discount from a local baker.) Any bread will really work, you will need 16 oz of sliced bread. (If I usually have little ones too, so I cube the bread first.)

~Spray a 9 X 13 cake pan. Place bite size bread cubes on the bottom of the pan.

~Whisk 6 eggs, 1 & 1/2 cups of milk, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Stir. Pour mixture over the bread cubes. Cover with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator overnight.

I do the following in a Ziploc container so I do not do it in the morning:

~Start with 1 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of brown sugar.

~Gently stir and cut in a 1/2 cup of butter.

~Mix. Add 1 cup of quick cooking oats.

~Place in Ziploc container and set on counter for morning, along with 1 can of apple pie filling.

~Bake for 25 minutes.

Top with sprinkled powdered sugar, syrup or cool whip. Serve warm. Share. Eat. Enjoy! Happy Homemaking! Happy Baking!

Fried Egg Grilled Cheese Recipe

Servings (app.4-6), will make 6 sandwiches

Ingredients:

  • 12 eggs
  • 12 pieces of bread
  • 12 slices of your favorite cheese (we use pepper jack or provolone)
  • salt & pepper
  • butter

~First warm some butter and fry your eggs to your liking. My kiddos love flat eggs for this, my hubby says the runnier the yolks, the better. Salt and pepper your eggs. Set aside on a plate.

~Butter your bread slices in pairs and toast in new fry pan or on griddle. (Butter side down)

~Once bread is down top with cheese and two eggs. (Every bread slice gets cheese and every other slice on griddle also receives 2 eggs.)

~Toast like regular grilled cheese. (Until cheese is melted and combine the two slices to help “glue” them together. When toasty brown and filled with gooey cheese, remove from heat and SERVE!

Reese’s Pieces Frosted Brownies

Let me just say these will satisfy any sweet tooth. Whether your in a pinch or just want to spend less time in the kitchen, these simple brownies will be a hit, and no one will know if they are homemade or boxed mix. Dress up plain brownies ready for a special feast or potluck in 5 minutes.

~Start with you favorite brownies. Here is a from scratch recipe, I doubled it for thick chocolate lover brownie in a 9 X 13 (deep) pan. Otherwise have a 9 X 13 pan of brownies cooled.

~First, with 1 cup of softened butter, cream in 1 cup of peanut butter.

~When creamed together, add 3 cups of powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time.

~ Add 3 tablespoons of milk to get frosting at the appropriate consistency. You can add up to 2 more tablespoons if you really just want a thin layer of peanut butter frosting.

~Top cooled brownies with frosting.

~ Gently sprinkle 1 Cup of Reese’s pieces candy overtop the frosting. Let sit.
